  • 2001 - Naturalist - Marjory Stoneman Douglas Biscayne Nature Center, Key Biscayne, FL.

    • Educator of children ages 4-16 about the ecosystems, flora, and fauna found in the Biscayne Bay area.
    • Coordinator of nature summer camp for disadvantaged children from Coconut Grove Cares ("The Barnyard") Program.
  • 2000,2001 - Research Assistant - Dr. Robin Baird, Maui, HI.
    • Assistant in field research studies of humpback whales, bottlenose dolphins, pantropical spotted dolphins, false killer whales, and short-finned pilot whales.
    • Research methods included photo-identification, application of suction cup Time/Depth Recorders, and acquisition of skin/blubber samples.
  • 2000,2001 - Naturalist - Pacific Whale Foundation, Maui, HI.
    • Duties as educator and boat crewmember on boat tours
    • Narration of humpback whale watch lectures, and speaking about Hawaii's cetacean species, coral reef ecosystems, and natural history while observing flora and fauna at sea.
    • In water/swimming coral reef tour guide.
    • Life guarding during reef snorkel trips.
    • Line-handling and boat maintenance on 45' and 65' power catamarans, and 45' sailing catamaran.
    • Duties as land-based educator:
      • Lecturer in auditorium and classroom to Elderhostels, tourist and school groups about humpback whale biology and behavior, history of whaling, and marine conservation issues. o Docent at Maui Ocean Center.
  • 2000 - Volunteer - Hawaii Wildlife Fund, Maui, HI. o Assisted in monitoring and protecting endangered hawksbill turtle nest sites.
  • 1999,2000 - Volunteer - Equine Neonatal Intensive Care Unit at University of Florida Large Animal Veterinary Hospital, Gainesville, FL.
