Welcome to the website of the Fisheries Ecosystem Modeling and Assessment Research (FEMAR) group at the University of Miami Rosenstiel School of Marine and Atmospheric Science (RSMAS).

Currently, most of our work is focused on marine populations of the coral reefs, coastal bays, and pelagic ecosystems of South Florida and the Florida Keys.

These investigations include many important fishes targeted for sport and consumption such as groupers, snappers, tarpon, bonefish, and billfish.

We utilize a Systems Science Approach that stresses an applies research strategy to support policy made by federal, state, and local entities with sound scientific investigations.

Our Research:

  • Bonefish and Tarpon Conservation Research
  • Aerial Survey Program
  • Dry Tortugas Research
  • Juvenile Corals in the Florida Keys
  • Models to Improve Understanding of Predator-Prey Community Dynamics
